 Dwayne Douglas Johnson, commonly known by his ring name the Rock, was born on May 2, 1972, in the United States. He is an actor, producer, and former professional wrestler. Widely recognised as one of the best professional wrestlers of all time, he played a crucial role in the growth and success of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in the late 1990s and early 2000s during the Attitude Era, a time of industry expansion. Johnson spent eight years as a professional wrestler for the WWF before turning to acting. He is one of the highest-grossing and highest-paid performers in the world, with films he has produced earning over $3.5 billion in North America and over $10.5 billion globally.

He joined the 1991 national championship squad after receiving an athletic scholarship to play football at the University of Miami, but he was primarily a backup player. Despite having dreams of playing professional football, he was passed over by the NFL draughts in 1995. He temporarily signed with the Calgary Stampeders before being released after just one season.Rocky Johnson, Johnson's father, helped him land a deal with the WWF in 1996. His portrayal of Luke Hobbs in the Fast & Furious films, starting with Fast Five (2011), contributed to the franchise being one of the most financially successful in cinema history. In Black Adam (2022), he debuted in the DC Extended Universe in the lead role.In the 2016 Disney animated picture Moana, he provided the voice of Maui, which made him famous.
