Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger, an American and Austrian actor, businessman, politician, and retired professional bodybuilder, was born on July 30, 1947. He is most known for his appearances in notable action films. He was the 38th governor of California from 2003 to 2011, and in 2004 and 2007 he was listed as one of Time magazine's 100 most important persons in the world.
At the age of 20, Schwarzenegger won the Mr. Universe title and seven Mr. Olympia titles after starting to lift weights at the age of 15. He has authored numerous books and articles about bodybuilding and is widely recognized as one of the best ever.[9] After Mr. Olympia, the Arnold Sports Festival bears his name and is regarded as the second-most significant bodybuilding competition. In 1977's bodybuilding documentary Pumping Iron, he made an appearance. As a result of his breakout performance in the 1982 box office success and follow-up to the sword and sorcery epic Conan the Barbarian, he gave up bodybuilding and rose to international prominence as a Hollywood action hero. Following his role as the titular character in The Terminator (1984), he appeared in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) and four additional sequels. He has made hit comedies like Twins (1988), Kindergarten Cop (1990), and Jingle All the Way (1996), as well as action movies like Commando (1985), The Running Man (1987), Predator (1987), Total Recall (1990), and True Lies (1994). He founded Oak Productions, a firm that makes movies.
Schwarzenegger served as the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports' chairman while a registered Republican during the majority of the George H. W. Bush presidency. He won the special recall election to succeed Gray Davis as governor of California on October 7, 2003. He won 48.6% of the vote, which was 17 points more than Cruz Bustamante, the Democrat who came in second. After being reelected in the 2006 California gubernatorial election with a higher vote share of 55.9% to fulfill a full term, he was sworn in on November 17 to finish out Davis' tenure. He returned to functioning as governor in 2011 after serving his allotted number of terms.
Arnie or "Schwarzy" during his acting career, "The Governator" (a combination of "Governor" and "Terminator") during his political career, and the "Austrian Oak" during his bodybuilding days were all nicknames for Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 1986, he wed Maria Shriver, the president John F. Kennedy's niece. He acknowledged having fathered a child with their housekeeper in 1997, which caused them to separate in 2011. Their divorce was finally formalized in 2021.
